110207 Is Ur Look Ur Everything??

Today is... one of my best day, despite of my continuous abdominal pain. Not a serious one though, just a monthly syndrome. Since I was in campus, I couldn't wait to go back home and lie on my bed because it extremely hurt. However I felt better when I walked back home and I decided to do house works. I showered earlier then sit on my balcony, enjoying the afternoon wind while listening to music. As usual, I chose SuJu playlist because their songs are mostly the best cure for my bad mood. I made the correct choice; my gloomy day was washed away and I was refreshed. All because I kept my mind and body happy and continuously fought the pain and down feeling I had. In order to do that, I need aid which is the music. Life w/o music is not lively, nuff said.

Back to the music, I'm kind of easy listener. I like most genre and I love listening to all of them when I'm up, but when I'm down, I need some songs to lift me up but not too high and fly me out of my mind. I also can't listen to mellow songs because they'd bring me down, down, down. I just need songs that can make me feel relaxed and loosen up, then bring smile on my face again. For me, the solution is Super Junior songs. I don't say I love all of their songs, because honestly I dislike like four or five songs from all their albums. But mostly they sound really nice and relaxing; they help me to think positively and cheer up. The melody, the voice and the way they sing; you can even imagine them fooling around while singing and unconsciously you smile too. FYI, I'm feeling this w/o understanding any single words of their songs. I also don't imagine the gorgeous or sexy boys dancing while listening to the music (which is may be the reason why some girls are smiling while listening to their favorite group). It's simply the melody and the harmony. I can listen to the the songs w/o thinking about the boys and the MVs yet I'm still smiling and feeling nice.

I just can't understand why most people can't enjoy the music w/o looking at the MV or the singers.. or even the lyrics.. The point of listening music is to be happy and motivated, isn't it? For me, as long as the melody of a song can bring me happiness and refreshment, it's definitely a good song. Some people just can't bear to criticize a song because the MV or the singer(s) or the lyric doesn't suit their preference. For example, let's see SM*SH - I Heart You. I'm sure if the group didn't release a MV showing them dancing and singing like some Korean groups do, it will become a hit in this country. But they did, and they received many negative comments which are mostly about how gay they are or how copycat their dance is. Is this all about music industry nowadays? Does a song have to be paired w/ good-looking singer(s) and perfectly done MV to be appreciated?

It's just the same thing happening in Kpop, even in big groups like SuJu and SNSD. Some people refuse to listen, or even become the antis because the personnel(s)has/have bad personality, got plastic surgery, is/are copycat or lip-syncher, gays, etc. Nowadays people are putting too much personal emotion and opinion into music, there's too much drama and they enjoy it much. Does the singers appearance and personality affect the quality of their singing ability? Most of us know the answer, but whether we wanna admit it is the real matter.

One more thing I realize is idols are almost never appreciated because of their talents. I will only talk about the one I'm most familiar with, SuJu. I have 5 friends who admit they like SuJu. Out of 5, only 2 who can really say, "Oh I like Eunhyuk because his dance is awesome!!" "I like Kyu because his voice is sooo good." The other 3, one likes Sungmin and the other two are Donghae's fans, have no different reason other than: "Because he's so handsome *blink blink" Duh not that I'm being hypocrite or what; I admire the boys' gorgeousness too, but at least please see their talents and like them more than their looks. They're still part of a singing and dancing group and I believe one of their biggest pride is to be recognized as singers, not as the faces on magazines or televisions.

Well, I may care too much on my friends' words. They're not ELF anyway and it's undeniable that people love the looks first before come to know the person more deeply and love the talent. However I feel quite uneasy when my friend (who likes Donghae) asked me my favorite. I showed her Yesung's pic and she said, "Ah ugly!! Donghae is better looking." Then I told her that his voice is one of the best in the group, and she said, "I don't care, he's ugly! Donghae is still the best." LOL I know she might be joking and didn't know anything [she never listens to any SuJu songs other than SEOUL (ft.SNSD) btw] but it's still an example of how overlooked the idols' talent nowadays.
